Greetings and Salutations!
Hi everybody (or nobody seeing as how no one yet knows I'm doing this opuss thing.) Why opuss you ask? Well, I'm at the computer at work during my lunchbreak and saw my sister's blog and decided this might be a good way to get my story out there. See, I've been meaning to write a novel/screenplay about my life from the age of 17 to present but didn't know how or where to begin. I'm not looking to make money or anything off it. It's much more like a catharsis for me (funny story about that word which I will get to in a bit). I went to another country for medical school...didn't even go to college here. It's somewhat common for kids of Indian decent to go to India to study medicine. But let me get one universal truth out there. 90% of those kids were forced to go there by overzealous parents. Why you ask? Well, in Indian society, it's a big thing to be a doctor. It's a career that holds a lot of prestige and honor.....plus apparently it's easier to get said son or daughter married off to someone else from a "reputable family". Yup, pretty much the only choices there are for indian kids in order to make their parents happy are doctor, lawyer, engineer, and the occupation du jour, software engineer. When I was a senior in high school, I didn't want to be a doctor. I'll get into that more in my next entry. But first, let me get the introductions out of the way. My name is Bobby and I'm 35 years old. I'm currently a pathologist assistant doing locum tenens. I was born and raised in the good ol U.S. of A. I went to school here in Virginia till I was 17. And now, this is the where the real story begins.............
