My life began before yours,

A long road walked,

Full of twists and turns,

Easy paths,

And hard,

A worn, tarnished coin,

Then you came,

Standing out,

Like a shiny new penny,

Confusion reigned,

Feelings for one I shouldn't have,

But they were there,

Waiting,

Unnoticed,

Ready to be found,

To be free,

Could you feel the same?

Smiles,

Flirting,

The briefest touch,

Longing looks,

A need to be together,

To meet,

To talk,

I listened to help,

A hug for a friend,

Reassurance and comfort,

Then the kiss,

A look,

Words unspoken,

What now, friends or lovers?

What next for the old coin and new penny?

We let it pull us along,

Following, not fighting it,

Where it will go, we don't know,

You changed my heart,

I changed direction,

My life,

Once dull,

Now full,

Vibrant,

Will it survive?

Or will the old coin wear away to nothing?
