CHAPTER 3

Temari's hand struck out before she could hit the ground. She felt a growing energy well up inside her, and burst out onto the scene. Grass, roots, and dirt flew around her, like she was some kind of mad drill as she hammered into the earth. Though she had hit the surface at ground breaking (literally) speed, she didnt feel any pain. Is this what it was like to die? She thought. The ball of light and energy started to vaporise until it gave out completely, leaving whisps of white in the air. The clouded figure seemed to disinigrate by the touch of the white energy she had produced. Her brain started to comprehend what happened and pain jabbed at her with hot needles. Before the agony knocked her out, she swore she saw a white wolf from the energy she produced. Everything was too muzzy to make out. What if i just fall asleep for a moment... She thought to herself. The fatigue hit her hard, and she lost consiousness a mile underground. Mikan cracked his knuckles as he waited for his report from his Thunder Demon. The shadow hovered to him, giving off an eerie presense that only Mikan could bare. "What is your report?" he ordered quickly. The demon couldnt talk but rapped his boney fingers on Mikan's wooden desk where he sat. Words of a completely different language appeared engraved in the mahogany. Mikan looked at them, understanding the language, and nodded. The demon waved his hand over the words and they vanished, as if they were never there. "I see. Very good, Temari has impressed me already. What delicious powers she posseses. Maybe if we took those lovely gifts away i could be able to proceed with my plan accordingly. Send them in." The expressionless demon hovered to the door, disapearing into another room and returning with both Temari and Damian; each having another Thunder Demon as guards. Temari couldnt bare to look at Damian, who was still groggy from his unconsciousness. The man who sat before them, Mikan, was the same man who had held the knife to their mayors throat. She glared at him through emerald eyes and bits of hair. He smiled again like before. "Well its nice to see you cooparated." he said smoothly. "What do you want." Temari snapped, inching away from the guard. Mikan's face smiled softly, like he had remembered an old friend. "How do you think you survived that fall? That was three thousand feet in the air. I made my Thunder Demon drop you without hesitation. If you were a normal person you would be a squished fly on a fly swatter," he looked at her directly and whispered, "but we both know you are no normal little girl." Mikan pointed at her exposed face. Instinctively, she touched it. Why did this man think she was unique? He knew something she didn't. She thought as she reminded herself about how she wasnt obliterated when she free falled. "What do you know?" she asked, less angery and more intrigued. "Have you heard the story of Mother Nature and Father Heaven?" Temari scoffed. "Who hasnt? Mother Nature gave the forest and earth, and Father Heaven constructed the skies and water. This formed to create our world." Mikan smiled again. "Good, good. I won't have to explain this all to you then. Tell me, what are Creators?" the man asked slyly. "Since Mother Nature and Father Heaven were too much to comprehend, they let the humans under control of the Eight Creators. Two each ruled one part of nature; fire, water, earth, air. They too split their powers so that we humans could use the little Natural Energy in us to do tremendus things. The institution I went at taught us how to manipulate this power to use for good, unlike you. The only reason I survived the fall was that tiny power. I have know idea how i activated it though..." Temari mumbled, "To prevent as many natural disasters as possible, two Controllers were born to lock the power inside the Creators. They stayed to their duty until one went evil and used the power of four to destroy many towns." "And who do you think I am, little girl?" Mikan asked one more time. Temari stood there, wondering. Who was he really? And why did he think her Natural power was stronger than others? "Have you heard the name, Mikan before?" he hinted. Temari's eyes widened. "You-you are the Controller? The man who was able to capture the living souls of the Creators? To use their power for your own use?" she whispered, in horror and awe. Mikan nodded slowly, grinning. Temari was standing in front of the most powerful man alive. She clenched her fists in anger. "You killed the four Creators! You betrayed everyone as a Controller!" her voice went hoarse. He chuckled under his breath and locked eyes with hers. "Almost perfect explaination, but you're wrong in one way. I didnt kill the four Creators." he corrected, "But enough chit chat. How do you think we Controllers lock the powers into Creators?" Temari thought for a moment. "A seal maybe?" she wondered. "Yes, very good. And this seal surfaces onto the skin so you can see it. Tell me, what do think that tatoo on your face is? A intriate birthmark?" he asked. Everything began to click in Temari's brain. Why she was here, why she survived the fall, why she felt somehow special... Her face showed it all. The mark... The seal... She was a... "Yes, Temari Protector of the Wood, you are a Creator."
