Hello: a simple word that can lead you to incredibly complex situations. So, here's my hello. Let's hope things don't get too complicated. Now reader, I've just met you, but just from the way you read the lines of this paragraph, the way you grasp the cover of this book in your hands, I can tell we'll grow to be great friends. Please don't put this book down, give me a chance.

What's your name?

That's really lovely. I haven't got a name, just call me what you want. Think of a name hard to forget, so you won't forget about me.

Now how has your day been?

If things aren't going too well, I sincerely hope things turn up for you. If things are going well, I hope they stay so.

My day?

I've been sitting on this shelf, all day, waiting for someone to pick me up and give me a read. Lots of people have skimmed my pages and put me back. Cliché, but I've been judged by my cover more than once. You're smiling aren't you? I really wish I could see it, I imagine you have a lovely smile. The kind of smile that lights up a room, that could brighten anyone's day. Oh please don't doubt yourself, you truly are beautiful. Hopefully, I'm not being too forward.

--But you are the one carrying me through a store, putting me in a bag, and taking me home with you. Oh, I'm so excited! I'm yours now! I can't wait for you to flip through the pages gently and laugh softly and maybe cover your mouth because you're in a quiet place and people will stare. Or maybe you'll bookmark pages, write in me, even tear a page accidentally. We all have our own tears, don't we? Although I will end, come soon. I'm happy, I'm part of your story now, which will continue on.
