"Cameron! Cam, wake up!" "stop jumping on my head." I groan and roll over. "cam!" "Ella, what could you possibly want at 4:00 in the morning?" "It's a surprise!" I sigh. Ella was not going to leave me alone. I pull the covers off and messily place my coat on my shoulders, buttoning it up wrong and then having to do it again, and shoving on my boots. Ella, of course, is already dressed in her tutu and fairy wings. For her, Halloween is everyday. Ella leaps down the stairs, doing a lopsided ballet twirl, and swings on the door, grinning at me up the stairs. "Shh! Don't wake mum and dad!" Ella nods and makes a big show of tiptoeing out the door and opening the gate. I trudge along behind. "Where are we going?" "it's a surprise, I told you!" Ella skips ahead of me and into the forest. "Ella?" I whisper into the black. "Ella?!" "Come on, camey, don't be such a slowpokey!" she skips back into the woods, humming the hokey pokey. This had better be good. I step into the forest. I have always like forests. They were quiet, nature, calm. But, I thought to myself, it's 4:00 am and all I can hear is a medley of Barney, Elmo, bananas in pajamas and Dora the explorer sung by a 5 year old wearing a tutu. My life in a nutshell.

We had been walking for half an hour, and I had had enough. The sun was already beginning to rise over the mountains, and I had a big test at school today. "Ella, how important is this? Mum will be up soon, and I'm just not sure..." "Cam, we are NOT leaving. We're almost there, come on!" she stuck up her chin indignantly. "Ella-" "We're here! Come on, Cam, come on, come on, come on!" she runs away through the trees and disappears. "Ella?!" my voice rises in panic as I run after her. "Ella? Ella, where-" Suddenly, I stumble into a vast clearing. My jaw drops. In front of me is a meadow of thousands lilies and lavender flowers, dotting the field with their little colored tips. Butterflies are scattered across the clearing, fluttering around the bouquet like moths to a flame, their elegant wings contrasting beautifully with the flowers. A bright blue one lands on my finger, slowing opening and closing its wings, so delicate, so meek, yet so stunning that it can take your breath away in one moment, before flying off to play with it's friends. In the distance, the sun slowly rises, pink and spreading its morning glow on the flowers. It is the most beautiful thing i have ever seen. In the centre if the clearing, Ella twirls around in her tutu, rolling on the ground and picking lavender. I gasp, remembering who brought me here. Annoying, pesty, infuriating little Ella found this?! She stops spinning and waves her small hand at me. Dazed, I wave back, my hand feeling heavier than usual. "Cam, Cam, do you want to play butterfly fairies with me? I'll be rose, and you can be violet." I nod, a smile creeping onto my face. "yeah. Yeah, sure, Ella." "Okay." No longer are we Ella and Cameron, but now butterfly fairy princesses, but we are still sisters, just like it's supposed to be.
