I flipped open the case to see a picture of a woman. I blinked, confused at the odd feeling that had crept into me. I guess maybe because I've never seen in a woman in the 21 years of my life...? I don't know. I've never felt it.

Well, unless it was a cross dresser, my task was to protect this... I checked the name. Marilyn Johnston. She worked at Stinsons Café, across the street, and was 23 years old.

I studied her picture. Blonde hair that cascaded into waves, sparkling blue green eyes, perfect smile.

I clicked a button on a small device that was under the collar of my shirt. "Hudson," I said into it.

It was a bit staticy, but I heard his voice say hello. "We've got a mission to do."

--

Hudson was my partner, and my best friend. Well, I say this because I really don't know any agents who are my age. Hes 24. I'm the youngest person in ASS history.

We were on the roof of our building. On the first ten or so floors, it's an apartment. We get away by saying its a law school on top, and they're stupid enough to believe us. Gullibility. I've outgrown gullibility in my life. Trust no one, Carlos told me. Trust no one.

No one.

"Do you even know how to talk to a girl?" Hudson asked.

I hesitated, questioning if I should lie. "No." I told him. I slid my sunglasses on.

He laughed. "I've done missions where you have to save the girl, trust me, they always end legen.... Wait for it.... DARYY!" I rolled my eyes. He did that. A lot. "You just gotta be a smooth talker, don't be a jerk, and win her over somehow. It's easy. My first mission like that was when I was 14, and me and her definitely got it on."

I knotted my brow. What did that even mean? "'Get it on'?" I asked.

He leaned over and whispered something in my ear. "Oh, um..... Lovely." I responded. I picked up my grappling hook, as did he, and shot it across to the top of the building Stinsons Café was in.

"Maxwell?" Hudson looked at me.

"Yeah?"

"why the hell do we always do things the hard way?"

I laughed, "Because we can." I swung over and ignored the pain in my heel as I thumped against the building and began to climb up. About two feet above me was an open window so I swung myself in.

"And he sticks the landing!" I say.

"Where are you?" Hudsons voice fluttered over my speaker.

Retracting the hook with one hand, I pressed the respond button. "I found an open window closer to the cafe."

He sighed. "Mine isn't working, I'll have to do it the easy way."

"The boring way," I chuckled.

I looked around, determining I was in a woman's apartment. I quickly tiptoed through the room and open the door when I heard a gun cock. "Dont move."
