Upon broken old shelves The books lay lifeless No ones read them in years These books crusted with age here And it seems no one would even look Upon the old tales and stories that are bound to these books But one little girl lays in a nook Reading and scouring every last page From the very start to the end of the day Every single day for eighty years The little girl had been coming here Her visits, however were shorter and shorter But she still read the books left back by some hoarder And as she lay in the hospital bed, 97 years old She smiled as she said her last words "Take this. I love you always," to her granddaughter, only a child And in her small hands lays a book To let her imagination run wild
