They say there, enjoying each others company, for an hour, and would have stayed had it not been for the dark clouds rolling in from the horizon. They made it back to the car just before it started to rain. I however, was not so lucky. Once home they decided to spend the rest of the day together, thinking of watching some TV but found their father sprawled over the couch; fast asleep. Instead, Ally pulled out an ancient looking monopoly box and began setting it up. Shortly after they realized there was no dice. They searched everywhere even in weird places like under couches and behind the TV. I could have called it out with magic but I was only supposed to use magic to save Finn. Ally walked over to the set of drawers and ruffled around for a dice, finding nothing. But instead of coming back empty handed she returned to the living room carrying a box. I froze. A box with a weird glowing stone in it. She called Finn over and together lifted the lid. The stone glowed as brightly as before despite the daylight. They sat there, completely stunned, not dating to touch it. Carefully, Ally extended her right hand and gently stroked the stone's surface. She giggled. Finn reached out and picked up the stone, bringing it to eye level. He muttered something, looking over to the sleeping figure of his father and shaking his head. He slipped the stone into his pocket and placed the box back in the drawers, continuing to look for the dice. After a few more minutes of helpless searching they gave up, turning towards the kitchen for something to eat instead. Halfway through making spaghetti Finn's dad awoke, smelling the air and going to sit at the table while Ally set it. They ate, at while it wasn't burying with conversation it wasn't silent either, which was a rare occasion in itself. Finn and Ally washed the dishes together, throwing dirty bubbles at each other as they cleaned them of their meal. Finn's father was once again seated in front of the tv and after Ally had given him a big hug and gone to bed, Finn went and confronted him, standing directly in front of the tv so his father couldn't ignore him. It didn't seem to sit too well. " What do you want?" He asked angrily, almost spitting the words out. "A family is built on trust," Finn said, ignoring his father's question, "layer upon layer, person upon person. That trust is what keeps each other safe. But when on person breaks that trust, everything collapses, and we are no longer safe. " He pulled the stone from his pocket. "What the hell were you thinking?!" he yelled. "Keeping this from us? Are you really that stupid to think it would result in anyone being hurt? What about Ally? Does she deserve this?" Finn's father went pale and his eyes shone with a fear I hadn't seen before. He stretched out his hand and becomes his fingers. "Give it to me." he said.

"No."

"Please?" he begged. Finn looked down upon his father, disgust evident on his pale face, illuminated only by the light of the tv. A touch of sadness hinted in Finn's eyes but was soon replaced by a cold stoniness that refuges to budge. He shook his head, looked back to the tv behind him, and then walked out, taking the stone with him. Finn's father waited until he heard the dull - slam - of his door before turning off the tv and retiring to his bedroom, collapsing tiredly onto his bed, asleep before his head touched his pillow. Once again I spent the night in my tree, watching over the house and it's occupants. When the sun finally began to rise I scooted home and had a hot shower, trying to shake the cold that had settled in my bones, and got dressed into some fresh clothes and collected another blanket. Once sitting in the safety of my tree I watched the sun rise, it's beautiful colors of red, orange and gold spilling out across the sky like paint on a blank canvas. The rest of the day in a blur as I waited, for what I wasn't sure, always on the lookout for danger. But wait as I might nothing changed and when the sun once again disappeared over the distant hills I regretfully stood from my place on Finn's roof and headed back to my car, intent on getting home and having a hot shower, leaving Finn a night of privacy; he has proven himself to be worthy of a night off. For the first time in days I slept in my own bed, the warmth was almost as good as the soft mattress beneath me, much better than the rough bark I had been used to. Soon I was in a deep sleep, undisturbed by taunting dreams. All too soon I woke up, but not soon enough as I noticed the time glowing dully from my crowded bedside table. I practically flew out of bed, scrambling to get ready and hurrying out to my car with a piece of toast hanging from my mouth. I drove as fast as I could with all the bends and the potholes lining the road. Still, when I finally reached the school, it was to find I was an hour late, and I practically sprinted to my first period. Once I apologized to my teacher and took my seat next to Cassey, mouthing the words, "I'll tell you later" to the obvious questioning look, I breathed a quick sigh of relief; only to be replaced by a scowl. Something wasn't right. I looked around and my already fluttering heart nearly jumped out of my chest as I saw Finn empty seat. "Maybe he isn't at school today" I told myself but I didn't believe a word of it. I stood, my chair taking across the classroom floor, making our teacher look up, startled at my expression. Beside me, Cassey looked on in amazement. "I don't feel well" I lied simply. Slowly her brain register what I was saying and nodded, walking over to her desk to write me a note excusing me from class, but u was already out the door running. It took me less than 60 seconds to find Finn, pressed up against the hood of his car, surrounded by four men dressed all in black. "I told you, I don't know what your talking about" he said coolly, managing to keep most of the panic out of his voice. One man stepped forward bringing his hand down upon Finn's face. Hard. Searing pain swept across my right cheek, making my vision blur for a few seconds while I recovered. "What about now?" he asked menacingly. Before Finn could respond I was striding out a cross the car park, fist coming down of the guy's jaw, feeling it dislocate, grabbing Finn's hand and running, running for our lives. In the few seconds it took him to register what was going on we were in the car, speeding down the highway. He looked at me, eyes locked on the road, knuckles white from gripping the steering wheel so tightly and shivered. "Cold?" I asked even though I knew it had nothing to do with the temperature. He ignored me. "Where are we going?" he demanded.

"Away" I told him.

"Your kidnapping me?"

"Did you see those guys? They would have veteran you to a pulp; and worse. I saved you" I told him angrily, how could he do this to me? That shut him up for a bit but as I turned off the highway and onto another road, showing no signs of stopping or even slowing down he asked, "what about my family? You have to take me home. "

"Ally will be fine. Your dad is a jerk but his is your father. He knows how to take care of her."

"How do you know all this?"

"Let's just say we are close friends; and leave it at that."

"Who are you?" he pleaded, fear evident in his deep brown eyes. "Someone" I retorted.

"Someone who?" I sighed.

"My name is Blair," I told him, giving up on secrecy since he had just seen me punch some guy neither of us knew, practically kidnapped him, and told refused to tell him anything. "And I am your Protector."
