The combined population of Germany, France, Italy, UK, Spain, Canada and Australia is approximately 390 million. The combined gun homicides are approximately 900.
The population of USA is approximately 310 million. Their gun homicides are approximately 10,000.
If you live in a country with firm gun controls, you and/or your children are far less likely to be killed by gun crime. These groups share similar percentages of homicidal maniacs but the potential carnage from 1 holding a knife, compared to a machine gun, in a school playground is significantly reduced.
How sad it is that, whilst I was waiting for my granddaughter's nativity play to start, I was considering what action I would take if someone came into the hall with a machine gun. That this special event was tarnished with the thought of tackling a mad(wo)man and sacrificing my own life, is clearly very disturbing.
Owning a gun puts everyone at risk!!! Spend the same amount of money on a cancer/heart/clean water charity and actually see the chances of (y)our survival increase.
Just one of the children murdered last week might have been the one to find a cure for lung cancer or an alternative energy source. Can we the human race, continue to afford such losses..?
