"John! Michael! Wendy! Dinner's ready!" called mother, down from the study The three children ran down the stairs And witnessed their father's deathly glare.
"Act like adults for once in your life, Wendy you're growing up, And John, what will happen of your wife? Now chop-chop, off for sup!"
The three children snickered and smiled Growing up was a journey of a thousand miles Kids were kids, and they don't mind Being naughty, nice or one of a kind
The Darling couple were off to a party Of posh people and drinking hearty. Mother said, "Wendy be responsible And give Nana her milk and bread." And off they set, donning their ermine fur coats, The snow was as thick and deep as a moat.
The three kids played all night, Imitating pirates, princes and mighty knights All through this, a boy, nimble, tall and fair Looked through the window at the one with long brown hair. Her smile radiant, her skin soft If only he'd seen someone like that more oft.
But he slapped himself back to reality He needed his shadow,so annoying and pesky It was in their house, So he asked Tinkerbell, his fairy, To go in their, as stealthy as a mouse. Tinkering she flew, like bells so merry Into the house where the children were playing
An hour had passed, no sign of Tink The children were asleep, not even a wink So the boy flew into the room No,he wasn't a wizard,he had no broom.
He looked and looked, his shadow was gone But he wouldn't give up,he'd continue searching on To his surprise and relief in the hall Stood his shadow, proud and tall He caught hold of it,but it just wouldn't stick The shadow was slippery and pulled all sorts of tricks "Aha! Now I have you,you will not get a away." Th shadow smiled and to his dismay The pretty girl stood at the doorway. Her lips pressed tight, arms akimbo "Who are you and what is this fiasco?!" "I'm Peter Pan,and I've come to retrieve my shadow." Wendy said,"Perhaps I should help you with that And after, you go straight out that window." Peter smiled at her and she led him to her room She took out a long needle for she would sow The shadow back to Peter's feet And he'd leave without a proper meet.
She pulled out a long needle and a satin thread And sowed, without allowing Peter to take a breath Her long hair fell over and hid her face This disappointed Peter,as it made his heart race "It's all done and now you may leave." said Wendy Peter crossed his arms and said "Not without Tinkerbell,my fairy."
