So I looked up the possible theories for the wings on the net. Genetic engineering by grafting wings on the foetus was not a plausible explanation. If that was so,I would have been able to sprout wings when I was a baby. Why now,all of a sudden? I'd also have to be a lab rat for that matter, spending my childhood in a lab, experimented on for defects and extra features like I've read in books. But that wasn't so. As far as my memory takes me, I've had a peaceful and secure childhood. So, I've ended up at the same question, what's happening to me? "Dinner's ready!" called out mom from downstairs. I slowly picked myself up and fell to the floor, dizzy. There was a sharp noise in my brain. It got louder and louder till I squeezed my eyes shut and lay on the floor, sweating and arms and legs flailing. I couldn't hear my own screams, that's how loud the noise became. The last thing I remember is my parents and brother rushing into the room, and I blanked out.
A bright white light mercilessly beat down on my eyes as I awoke. Grunting,I tried getting up,only to my utter surprise, I was strapped down to a hard metal bed with strong iron bars around my ankles, knees, wrists and my wings were spread out behind me and held down by something I couldn't make out. I tried yanking myself up,but the bars didn't budge. My mind was racing at a pace of 100 mph. Suddenly, I heard a soft breathing,a scribble of a pencil and a monotonous beeping sound. It was coming from a distance of about 10 meters, but it seemed loud and close in my ear. "Aw,you're finally awake,Ms Grace Sander." said a raspy voice from beside me, followed by footsteps. A fair, medium sized man, with large spectacles,a unibrow and greasy hair stood at my side, smiling smugly. His cologne smelled cheap and he wore a long white coat. I was in a hospital or a lab, that much I knew and my instincts told me that things ain't gonna turn out right.
