Smiling I look through the fridge, I don't remember eating the last of the chocolate, with Aric over for the play date with Constantine, and Alystair I hadn't anticipated running out of snacks, but with three growing boys and a husband (Alec) snacking all day it was bound to happen. Sighing at the obvious lack of chocolate in the fridge I reach for the jug of lemonade pulling it out just as I feel Dante reaching for me through our personal link, his words are jumbled but the few that I make out are "Destroyers... Help.... Children..." Without a though I drop the jug of lemonade, the glass barely making a sound as it smashes on the ground. Running from the room I cry out to Alec both through our link and out loud saying "ALEC DESTROYERS ON THE ISLE!!! GET THE BOYS OUT OF HERE!!!"
Bursting through the door to the backyard I see the kids playground partially melted the boys no where to be seen, the sound of Constantine's scared voice calling out "Mama" as he runs toward me makes me turn and run full speed at him, I see the destroyer standing not to far behind him, my entire world begins to slow to a crawl as I see a long stream of what look like fire heading toward Constantine from the destroyer, I cry out "NOOOOOO". As I see it connecting with his back, his small body begins disintegrating, his dusted body just grazes my finger tips before flying away in the breeze. My head snaps in the direction of the destroyer, I have to try and hold back my grief when I say* Where are they all!?! *The destroyer does nothing more than look to another two piles of ashes on the ground I know without thinking they they belong to my husband (Alec) and youngest (Alystair), the destroyer continues to grin at me before pulling someone from behind his back, Aric, Dante's son. "Don't hurt him...Please ". I plead with the destroyer as I hear Aric's scared voice trembling out the words "aunty....blaze...help..." just moments before the destroyers hand grips down on his shoulder, the sound of his small bones breaking makes my heart break as I leap toward him, knowing that with my family now gone I can't let Aric die along with them. I know i'm too late when I hear his little voice scream out before his body disintegrates, just before the destroyer vanishes in a puff of black smoke.
Screaming out with my body and mind I reach for Aurora, Natasha and Zakara not telling them what has happened to my family I say through our link* The isle is under attack!!! *The three of them instantly link back with me telling me that Balthazar had just informed them of the attack and they were readying themselves to help. I break the link between myself and them without another word not wanting any of them to know what just happened. Dematerializing from my home I vow never to go back there without getting my family back first.
Materializing into the clearing I see the chaos going on, my head whips around looking for Dante, I see him collapsing on the ground and I know he's in extreme need of blood, reaching to him through our personal link I say "Cowboy, you need blood, we HAVE to avenge our families together, it's the only way." He raises his head, eyes locking with mine for a moment as he nods his head. Rushing toward him I reach for my sai's as I do, cursing out when I don't find them where they usually are, I had taken them off earlier, Constantine never liked them, hie heart was pure and gentle they scared him.
Holding back on my grief I continue to Dante before freezing when the Destroyer that's about to take him out spins toward me opening it's mouth it spits at me, I begin to duck but don't make it in time and the destroyer spits acid into my face. I can feel my body falling to the ground almost as if in slow motion, and I don't fight it as I feel darkness pulling me down, I don't feel the need to fight when the acid burns off my face, my very bones boiling and body screaming out from the pain, all I think about is my family and how it seem's by a strange twist of fate I'll be with them again...Dante's arms catch me just before I hit the ground, he lowers me to the ground, the last thing I see before the acid begins to burn out my eyes is his face as he looks to the destroyer, I had never seen such anger on anyone's face, and I know this was the same destroyer that killed Alec, Constantine, Alystair and Aric...
