It didn't take me and Charming long before we made it to the group. Although their horses were going fast, Rosetip and Remedy were just that little bit faster. I left Charming near the back and made my way up to the front where Lina was. She grinned when she saw me and started talking fast,
"Your dad said go to the abandoned bar, he said you know that? He also said that we need to lay low for a while. And all these guys are saying they want to help you, help us." She said.
I nodded. "You know where the bar is?" I asked.
She shook her head. "We'll find it eventually though, right?"
"I know where it is" I grinned.
I knew it wasn't far from where we were, I didn't know how I knew I just did. My dad had always took me around our kingdom, showed me what was ours when I was little. I didn't care too much for our kingdom, I just liked seeing the nature and after about the second trip, he knew that's how I felt too. The abandoned bar wasn't in our kingdom, it was just on the outskirts, but it was in what we called "no man's land". Really it was just the area where people went to hide from the law and no one ruled it so it was open to anyone. The idea of staying there for a while started to grow on me as we passed the boarder into no man's land. The horses didn't like it, however, but they carried on going. Remedy knew where we was going, she was getting excited. I could tell this by the way she was running, she had more of a bounce in her step.
"There it is" I grinned as the bar came into view. It was an old rundown place which you had to cross a rickety bridge to get to and many people didn't trust it enough to venture across. The place was called The Ugly Duckling and as the hooves clopped slowly against the bridge I knew that it was the perfect place for us to hide.
I knew the stables were round the back so I led everyone there straight away. I helped everyone sort out their horses before putting them in a stall. There wasn't enough stalls so I put the horses that got along the most together. I put them in twos and the smaller horses in the bigger stalls in threes. The last horse to sort out was Rosetip and I put her in the same stall as Remedy then me and Charming made our way into the bar.
The inside didn't look as rundown as the outside. It had an upstairs which had three doors, which I'd have to explore a little bit later. The main part of the bar was by the door, just beside it actually. There were stools at the bar and tables dotted around the room. Lina was already behind the bar, serving drinks to the men who had taken up seats all around the room. Some of them sat on the stairs because there wasn't enough room for them.
"Is anyone hurt?" I asked, the room going quiet as we walked in. No one was, as I thought, but I had to ask just in case.
"We were followed" Someone finally said, standing by the window. I joined him and peered out of the little gap between the boards. I couldn't see who it was, they was wearing a black cloak with the hood up, but they wasn't riding Old Rusty. This was a horse I had never seen in our kingdom before, she had a white star on her black hind. Before I knew what was going on, Fletch had thrown a dirty brown cloak over me and pushed me out of the door. I moved slowly towards the bridge. Whoever this was, they was scared to cross, and this gave me an advantage.
"I'm not here to harm anyone" She called across.
I just nodded, just in case she knew who I was. I still couldn't see who she was, her face was hidden by her dark cloak.
She dismounted her horse. "Do I have permission to cross?" She asked.
"Who are you?" I called across.
She shook her head at me. "I will tell you inside, I'm worried someone will see me and tell the law" She replied so I nodded and slowly she came across.
As we got closer to the bar, Charming came out and took the horse off her. She seemed surprised to see him but she nodded to him, in respect, and he nodded back before running round back.
"Beer?" I asked as Fletch slammed the door behind us.
She shook her head and pulled her hood down. I knew exactly who she was..
