As soon as Remedy was ready I mounted her and got out of the castle as quickly as possible. I knew I had limited time left but Remedy was one of the fastest horses in all the land. I rode to the Charming castle first just to see if Lampton and Rosetip were back but there was no sign of Rosetip and no one rode her but Lampton. That's when I panicked.
Where was Lampton?
But of course, I knew where he was. On his way to see Reswart. I had heard that finding Reswart wasn't too hard, everyone knew how to find him.
"In the forbidden forest, where moths do fly There is a wall of stone and some hay nearby Here you will see smoke, follow the cloud Reswart's hut will soon be found"
Everyone knew the riddle. I had been told it since I was little and the good news was that there was only one way into the forbidden forest. "Come on, Remedy" I whispered, moving her to walk into the forest. The silence seemed deadly, I could hear my own heart. With each step further into the forest the trees seemed to become denser and the more I got the feeling that someone was watching me. But still, all was quiet. That was until I heard a hiss and nearly fell off Remedy as she ran further into the woods. Somehow I ended up laughing at myself once Remedy had slowed down. I dismounted her and leaned against a wall. I was still laughing but Remedy was watching me with her big brown eyes as if I was mad. "Freya" a voice whispered. I screamed then turned to find Lampton standing behind me, watching me intently. My laughter rang out in the stillness. "Don't scare me like that" I grinned. "What are you doing here?" He hissed. "Looking for you, what else would I be doing?" I replied. "Why?" He whispered. I sighed. "You was right. I really don't belong there and all I said was in the heat of the moment. I'm sorry, Lampton" He nodded then pulled me closer. Well as close as he could with the wall still between us. "I'm sorry too, Freya" He whispered in my ear. "Are you okay?" I asked, looking up at him. I looked at him properly now. There was tears in his eyes, his hair was a mess and there was a cut just under his chin. He shook his head and closed his eyes. "I don't know what happened, Freya." He whispered. "Rosetip just went mad. She knocked me off and ran. She's never done that before. I hit something, I don't know what..." His voice trailed off and he got a dazed expression on his face. I hugged him tighter as his sobs vibrated in his chest. I had never seen Lampton cry before and never wanted to again, it was just heartbreaking. After a while his tears ran dry and he pulled away from me. He smiled down at me. "Now, lets find Reswart." He grinned, his eyes red and puffy. Then he looked down and his grin grew. "We've found the wall" I looked down too and sure enough, we had found the wall. This made me laugh, how could I not have noticed a wall, the one in the middle of the woods, when it was right in front of me? Lampton was grinning down at me now, a secret hidden in his smile. "Ready, my love?" He asked, holding out his hand. I took it and nodded. "More now than I was a minute ago" I smiled and Lampton pulled me closer. When his lips came down onto mine my heart jumped and leaped. I thought it was going to jump right out of my chest there and then. I started to shake, I couldn't believe it was happening. So many times I imagined our first kiss, when it would be and where we would be standing. This just seemed so much more real than what I had dreamed of time and time before. Just me and Lampton, a stone wall between us keeping us from being closer, and his arms holding me, protecting me. It took my breath away.
