Vladimir grinned at me, showing me his fangs, but they were so unappealing. I could see the remains of blood on his teeth and lips. Then there was Payne and Shadow, watching me from behind him, and they were laughing. Stupid twins making me want to laugh when I shouldn't.
"Fae, do you have something to say?" My mother, Victoria, said. I looked at her. My graceful, caring mother. She gave me her usual 'hell no' look then smiled. Her fangs were away, like most of the vampires in my family she kept her fangs away most of the time. And feeling reassured, I turned back to Vladimir.
"Reik Vonsten, I will evaluate your offer and get back to you. You are excused" I said as politely as I could. Lord Vladimir Vonsten nodded, bowed slightly then left the room taking his guards with him. I waited until the door shut behind him to sigh and drop to the floor, stretching out like a large starfish.
"Where did you find this one, Reinten?" Shadow said in his dark, grumbling voice.
My mother smiled. "Blame your father, Shad" Was her answering reply.
The next to talk was Payne, in his softer voice. "Mother, you need Fae to find her own suitor. The spirits do say that the only born girl of Myan and Victoria shall find her own suitor when the time is right and until then the Senton and Reinten should not stand in the way of Poltin Fae"
I hated when Payne used our official titles, it was pathetic. My father, Senton Myan, is King Myan of Telson City. My mother is his Reinten or Queen. I am princess or poltin and my brothers are polters. We are the royal family of Telson City. The rulers of Myan country and hunters of those beyond the Myan walls.
What are these things beyond the walls, you may ask? Humans. With the blood of gods to protect us and feed us. Only when you turn a certain age are you allowed to go beyond the Myan walls but being a Myan Princess I get given my humans by the guards. It is protocol for the royal women to stay in Telson City. The men are the ones who lead the feeding parties and they are also responsible for the safety for everyone in their party.
"I agree with Payne" Shadow grumbled as if he didn't want to admit it.
"Thank you!" I huffed then got a light kick on my foot. I laughed though.
"Is that right?" A booming voice called from the door.
"Myan, you know it is" Mum replied. I could hear the smile in her voice.
My dad laughed then, finally noticing me on the floor, then said, "You didn't like Lord Vladimir then?"
"Oh, Dad, Reik Vladimir had blood all over him. He could've cleaned himself up" I said then laughed.
"It's a no then?" Dad laughed.
"Definitely" Mum said instead of me and then she laughed too.
My parents are quite laid-back for King and Queen and my life isn't so boxed in. It might be because I can not only fend for myself but my family have helped other vampires for years so it is like a dept to us. They are in dept to my family and they repay us by following under our command. Not really a strict command but a command none the less. I love being a vampire sometimes.
