"That's the wicked witch" She said. "Her skin is green." There was disgust in her voice.

Snapping my head round I glared at this woman. "Have you ever encountered this 'wicked' witch?" was the question shooting out of my mouth within seconds.

She nodded. "Yes, young one, I went to school the same time as her." was her answering reply.

"I am not as young as I look." I replied. "I went to school with her too and I was very ill, she helped me. Elphaba isn't wicked at all"

She shook her head then smiled. "You did not go to school with us, you are too young. What is your name?"

I knew who this woman was now. Her snobby turned up nose gave me the hint. Her eyes too, they always struck me as strange, being an off shade of black.

"You don't remember me, Ama?" I smirked now, it was my turn to cause her discomfort.

"Who are you?" She demanded.

"Nessarose Pilgrim" I said slowly.

She shook her head again. "That's impossible, she got ill. Termally. Last I heard she died the year after leaving school." She didn't believe me, just kept on shaking her head.

"No, Ama. Your friend Letta died the year after school due to shock. She died in my arms. She died in Pilgrim girl's arms. What a shocking turn of events, right? We got really close after you left her for the perfect Emerald City and I hear things didn't work out for you there. Why else would you be back?"

Her eyes were wide now and she whispered, "Letta died?"

I nodded. "She was attacked. She knew Elphaba was harmless too. The guards attacked her"

I wasn't holding back on the truth, there was no point, and in a way I wanted her to suffer. But I wasn't that evil, I couldn't be.

"Letta missed you. Her last words was 'tell Ama that I'm sorry. Tell her I didn't mean to'" I said.

There were tears in Ama's eyes now. "Did she tell you why? What happened?"

I shook my head. "Never. Only told me how much you were wrong about Elphaba and how much she missed you."

Ama looked down now, at her hands. "Elphaba is dead now though. Dorothy made sure of it."

"I know" I said, even though I knew better. I knew Elphaba was alive still, I could just feel it, and it calmed me that for once the outsiders won.
