Arnia clucked her tongue at me. "Yes?" A voice snapped from behind me. "What has she done this time? She can't do anything right in your eyes, can she?" I rolled my eyes. Andria always was hot headed, she didn't get that Arnia was only joking. She was trying to annoy Andria and it was working. I turned round in my chair to look at Andria. "She's teasing you" I smiled as she watched me with her pale blue eyes. "Ladies, break it up." The teacher called from behind me. I rolled my eyes again. "Turn round, Miss ... Ah, Miss Afina-Luella, something more interesting behind you again?" "Yeah, but anything is more interesting than this room" I replied. "Maybe you should keep that in mind for next time you get caught in the boy's changing room ... Again" She replied, obviously not amused. Stifled giggles came from the girls, which brought a smile to my face. "Yeah, that really wasn't my fault. I was actually dragged inside this time." I replied, trying not to laugh. "And that is why Miss Andria, Miss Arnia and Mr Demetrius are here too" She said. "Is that why you're here, Miss Mavis?" Demetrius asked and I could hear the amusement in his voice. "Don't get smart with me" She snapped. "Thought you said all kids were stupid?" Andria piped up. "Don't twist my words" Mavis said, her voice getting louder. "She isn't twisting them, it is what you said" Arnia added. "Don't get smart with me" Demetrius mocked, pointing at Arnia. "Don't you get smart with me" Arnia shot back, pointing back at him. Then Andria said it too, laughing as she did. I stood up slowly. "Kids, eh?" I smiled at Mavis then walked out of the room. I was sick of going into isolation, sick of Mavis' disapproving face and I was sick of this stupid unconventional school. Mavis followed me into the corridor. Her voice called after me. "You're going nowhere in life. Nowhere" I just flipped her off as the others followed behind me ...
Nowhere. I was going nowhere ...
I looked at myself in the full length mirror. A messy scar ran down the length of my right forearm. I could see the solid silver material that was now imbedded in my arm. I could feel it in my arm, it's cold surface resting against bone and muscle. "I wonder what you do" I mumbled at my arm then looked at my bare feet. There was no scar on my feet but I could see the silver through my skin, that would take a while to become unnoticeable. The door opened then. "Hey, Rainy, how are you feeling?" The nurse's soft voice called from the door. I turned round to look at her, she had soft blue eyes and long flowing blonde hair. She was pretty, too pretty for the work she was doing. "Fine" I mumbled finally. "You don't look fine" She replied, stepping closer. "Of course I don't look fine, I've had so many operations in this place that I no longer look like myself" I replied, tears in my eyes. "Oh but you look better, Rainy" She smiled and it seemed somewhat mockingly. That's when I lost my cool, which I rarely did, I grabbed the mirror off the wall and attempted to throw it at her. She was gone before it made it across the room, where it shattered into pieces before falling to the floor.
I was going nowhere. Nowhere. And it was all their fault ...
