I hug myself closely I'm scared and so cold With no place to call home Like this, I won't grow old
But then a light hit me An angel came to say, "Hello there, I'm here to help you today"
She took my hand Pulled me to my feet She gave me new clothes And even something to eat
Starving, I gobbled it Gone so quick She gave me some more And my lips I did lick
Then she brought me closer And whispered in my ear, "I'm going to get you a home, I'm going to bring people near"
She sent me walking And my head stayed down I was again scared and lonely And on my face a frown
But that's when I found you And I fell to the floor You helped me to my feet I suddenly realised I wanted more
You introduced yourself And said a friendly hi Had you seen me before? And then I started to cry
You should have ran away But you stood your ground And you held my hand While I made that awful sound
I cried and cried And you comforted me You opened my eyes And made me see
I needed you To make me be I needed you To make me, me
The angel saved me That day, it's true That angel was me I bet you never knew
To pick yourself up Is sometimes what you need Put a smile on for the world And maybe, somehow, you'll succeed
So "out with the old" That's what the angel told As she held my hand tight I'd be a new person tonight
