She stopped mid walk and I walked straight into her. She held a finger to her lips and looks around us, surveying the area. I couldn't hear a thing but I knew she could, she was tuned to these woods after all. Then she turned her dull green eyes onto me and they grew wide.

"What is it?" I whispered loudly, maybe a bit too loudly.

She stepped closer to me as the hood of her red cape was blown down in the wind. Her blonde hair blew out behind her.

"When I count to three, I want you to run back home" She whispered, watching me intently. I nodded, I knew better than to question her.

She sighed. "Okay. One" She paused. "Two" She paused again. "Three"

To say that I'm a fast runner would be a complete and utter lie but in that moment, I ran faster than I had ever done before. And I didn't look back, not once, and I regretted that.

Just as Red had told me, I ran all the way home. My father was outside and he saw me coming. Somehow he knew what had just happened, called out for help then ran into the woods.

"Nova, get inside" Red's father called as he ran past me with his axe in hand.

Everyone thought I wasn't capable of looking after myself. I ran after him, I wouldn't just sit back and wait for the men to bring my best friend back. She was my best friend!

I soon caught up to Red's father, who didn't seem to be rushing, and I ran past him.

"Nova, this isn't your fight!" He called after me. "You're just going to get yourself killed."

I shrugged, still running. I didn't care. Act before you think, that was me.

"Go home" Someone started chanting and slowly the voice became more growl-like. I froze, naturally. I had run through the woods, alone and unarmed. The woods were ridden with wolves.

"Go home, Nova" Red's voice came out in a weak whisper but I was alone. Where was she? I had to find her.
