I landed on the ground on my feet and growled again, the wolf inside taking over. I let it take over, I stood aside and let the wolf's powers unleash. I just didn't think it would unleash this way. I hunched over in pain. It was a burning pain, more powerful than I'd ever felt before, and it was all over. I screamed but it wasn't long before I knew what was happening. I could feel it inside of me. My bones breaking and moving into place, the pain erupting with it. The fire was just a dull stinging against this new pain but, with the anger inside me, I was glad it was happening.
I felt my hands and feet morphing as I fell onto all four and, by the looks on their faces, I was huge. I ran towards them, teeth bared. I could feel Scruff watching me from where he lay on the ground and I could tell, he loved what he saw.
Planting my paws into the ground before them, I growled, "Let my mate go"
"Or what?" The largest wolf of the lot growled back.
I grinned, he was actually quite small compared to me. I could take him.
"Let him go" I barked. Surprisingly, they did and then they all turned and ran.
"They're young. Scared" Scruff whispered.
"Unruly" I replied as I stepped closer to him. My work was done, I felt my bones moving back and my fur shedding away. Once again, I was human.
"Are you okay?" I smiled, kneeling before Scruff. He was smiling at me, although he had tears in his eyes.
"Yeah, thanks" He replied then stretched. I cringed at the sound of his bones clicking.
"Good" I sighed, smiling, then wiped a tear from his eye before it could fall.
"That was just ... Touching" A voice said behind me. I turned slowly to find Red standing there with a bow and arrow pointed right at me. At me?
I stood. "Red, how did you get out?" I asked.
"The wolves." She smiled. "We all want you for the same reason, I'm working with them, Nova"
"But why?"
She laughed. "Because they have something I want and I have something they need. They need you, Nova. Isn't it great? This deal has gone perfectly." She said then released an arrow.
It came straight towards me and I didn't see my life slash before me, I just saw her face before everything went dark. Her smug face which I had once trusted. Which I had trusted before she shot me with an arrow. Before my world went dark.
