I remember when I met you. Finally met you after months and months of seeing you in school. We moved into the house next door.
You called it the haunted house, didn't you?
And it was just me and my mum unpacking the hired van. Just me, her and the animals moving into the small house next door to you. Your mum came out to introduce herself to us as you looked out of the window. Didn't think I saw, did you? Your mum was lovely and said, "My son will help you. He needs to get out and do something."
And you did.
You came out, smiled at my mum, ignored me and introduced yourself. Joshua. Josh. You had no clue how much I'd wanted to know your name and for how long.
Still couldn't say hello to you.
I had to do the animals to get them settled and you helped me. What could I say? We had a lot of animals.
"What's this?" You asked, indicating to the box in your hands. I laughed. "A box full of boxes" You blushed slightly, grinning as you did, then scratched your head and said, "Yeah, I knew that."
"Hold this?" I asked, holding out my hamster cage. You took it quickly then shuffled slightly. "Did you want to move?" You asked as I moved the rabbit cage. "No, I was fine where I was." I replied, taking the hamster back off you. "Oh" was your reply. You didn't seem happy with that answer. Did you think I'd hate it there? Why would I? You were the boy next door, after all.
