Chapter 2 - Resus
That scream. Her scream. It hurt. Bad. She was hurting. I jumped out of the window. It was open. "Amia" I called. No response, none at all. I ran. And ran. I knew where she was. Don't ask why, I just knew. I know her. I knew where she walked. I knew she was close. "AMIAAAAA!!!!" I might as well have screamed. I didn't want to lose her too. Not now, not ever. I wasn't ready to lose my other best friend. Not now, not ever. I needed Sable back but I knew better than to wish for what was. "Resus" A voice called. It sounded like velvet. However that sounds. Beautiful. "Yeah?" I couldn't help but reply. "How are you?" I looked around me. "Where are you?" There was no reply. None at all. Just silence. Weird. I took a cautious step forward. "She's gone, Resus" "What?" I turned to the voice. Again nothing. "Come with me. I will take you to them, the ones you love, just take my hand." A hand appeared in front of me, sliding out of the darkness. To them? I'll go to them? "Sable and Amia are waiting, Resus. I will take you to them. They are waiting for you. In the light, the same light that Sable gave himself to last year. He's changed, just like you, for good." Slowly, I took a step forward. Her hand was pale. Cold. Like death. I took it. Willingly. I needed them. "Sable" I whispered. She took me into the dark. Away from the light. Not what I had in mind. "Just a shortcut" She said. I still couldn't see her. Could just feel her hand. Cold, like the look of it. Hand in hand. We walked into darkness.
Chapter 3 - Sable
I don't know how I got out of the light, I just heard a noise and turned around to see a dark blob on the floor. Amia was in the dark blob, in the world I had left behind. My Amia was there and she was alone, it was my chance. I couldn't contain my excitement at seeing her after what seemed like years. "Amia!" She stopped and looked around but didn't look up. I knew she was scared. She had a fear of the unknown. "Amia, up here!" I said, leaning down into the dark blob so I could see her better. She had changed. She was prettier. Her hair was longer, she had dyed it bright blue since the last time I saw her, but her eyes were the same. Perfect green eyes with a brown zigzag line around the pupil. She was taller too, grown maybe an inch or two. She looked older, not much but it was great to get to see her. But what if she didn't remember me? "He IS dead" She said loudly. She remembered me! I had to tell her I remembered her. But how? We had this thing, no one else knew about it, not even Resus. That's what I said, "Look! See! Listen!" Her bottom lip shook. "You're dead, Sable" Her voice broke as she said my name. My heart broke, I was bringing her pain, and I didn't mean to. But I laughed, after everything I laughed. "No" I kept it short and something was telling me to sing, so I did. It was her favourite song. "Tonight I've fallen and I can't get up I need your loving hands to come and pick me up And every night I miss you I can just look up And know the stars are holding you Holding you Holding you Tonight" There was a pause. "Sable, you're dead" She whispered. "Please, Amia. Please just look up" I said, pleading with her. I was on my knees now, leaning right into the blob.
She did. Then screamed.
"Sable" She screamed, pointing to something behind me. I turned just in time to see the pale hand that shoved me through the blob. Then I was falling. Amia screamed again but it was louder this time, a lot louder. I was still falling, just falling, and then I dropped as if I had been suspended in air for a while. "Sable?" Amia asked, nudging me in the ribs with the tip of her bright pink converse. I moaned as I sat up. It was dark, too dark. "Why is it so dark?" I couldn't help the question, it just came out. She let out a short, sweet laugh. "That would be because it is half 10 at night" She replied, watching me with eager eyes. "Oh, really?" I said more to myself then smiled up at her. "You are here right?" She asked, kicking my shoe lightly. I nodded. Then she screamed again, this time in excitement, and fell to her knees before me. That's when she kissed me, looking into my eyes and holding my cheeks in her hand. It was a short kiss but it was good! "Wow" I smiled. "Why didn't you do that before?" She ignored me then got up and helped me to my feet. "We need to take you to Resus!" She started dragging me then stopped dead. "Can you hear that?" She whispered. I listened but couldn't and then I heard someone utter one word, a word I had heard my whole life. "Sable" The person was Resus. He was close. "Just a shortcut" Another voice said not long after him. I had heard the voice before and I didn't like her one bit, she was a troublemaker. Which meant... "Resus!" I screamed, running now.
