"Your dad will be here soon." My mum said, which I knew, before grinning. "He wants us to wait for him somewhere." I nodded. The day was quiet, peaceful. "How about there?" I asked, pointing towards a coffee shop with tables and chairs on the roof. She nodded then led the way. I thought it was a perfect place, I could look down at the people on the beach and she could look out at the sea, so I sat with my back to the beach. It was a lovely day, no clouds in the sky, and the sun was shining happily. It seemed everyone was in the sea, must've been nice in there, and it was a shame I forgot my swimming stuff. "You look like a girl today" She grinned. "And I don't usually?" I asked, slightly offended. "You know what I mean." She grinned, waving the thought away. "You look nice when you don't wear those jeans" I rolled my eyes. She was always complaining about how I looked. What was wrong with skinny jeans anyway? Nothing. She just didn't see it like that. But today I was wearing a dress. It was a black and red dress, thin straps, puffy below the waist and knee length. I was wearing big combat boots too. It seemed like what I normally wore, I just didn't get my mum sometimes. "Hey, how are my girls?" My father's joyful voice called out as he bounded towards us. "That was quick" I mumbled as he kissed my mum on the cheek. "Why don't you go for a walk, hun?" He said, turning to me.

I knew what that meant, they wanted to talk, so I stood and walked away. I had a bit of money and had seen a stall on the waterfront with some pretty bangles. I needed more bangles. It didn't take me long before I got to the stall. The woman at the stall was an elderly lady and, when she realised I wanted most of her bangles, she gave me some for free. "Thank you so much" I said again as she passed me my things in a bag. "No, thank you, my dear" She smiled as I waved bye to her.

I made my way to the ice cream shop further down as music started up. I decided to ignore it at first, it was just another band, but as I waited in line for my ice cream I realised that they weren't too bad. And the singer didn't sound too bad. I decided to abandon my ice cream in search of the band. It wasn't something I did, like wearing dresses, but I was in a good mood and thought, why not? I found the band on a little made-up stage, with an outside bar, further down the beach. It was free to get in and I made my way straight to the emptiest part of the bar. I didn't order anything just stood there surveying the band. It was a three-piece band. The drummer was, surprisingly, dressed in a frilly pink top and matching shorts. Her blonde hair had pink tips and she was an alright drummer. The lead guitarist seemed to be getting all the attention. He seemed suave, a real ladies man, and he had a thing for winking. Any girl he looked at, he'd wink. His hair was dark and short, his jeans were halfway down his arse and his top was too low for you to actually be able to class it as a top. Now the singer, on the other hand, was cute. He was a good singer and most of the time his eyes were down, on the battered old acoustic between his fingers. He was wearing jeans, held up by a belt with a batman buckle, and his top, which he wore beneath his leather jacket, could pass as a top. His hair was short but he had a long fringe, covering his eyes, and he was wearing glasses. He looked up now and again to smile at the small crowd that had gathered to hear them play. It was then he noticed me, still standing at the bar, and he whispered something to the guitarist, who looked up at me then nodded.

They finished after that song. The guitarist jumped down and started to greet his "adoring" fans and the drummer made her way to the bar but the singer, to my surprise, made his way towards me. "Hi" He smiled, pushing his guitar so it was behind him. Then he held out his hand for me to take. "I'm Garrett" I shook his hand quickly then released it. "Addie" I replied. "You come here often? I've got a strange feeling that I've seen you before" He smiled. I shook my head. "No, first time I've been here." I replied and, to that, he looked disappointed. "Ah okay," He replied. We stood in silence for a while. "You were good. I left the ice cream line to listen and not many things get me out of that line" I smiled. He grinned. "Ah, sorry. Maybe I could make it up to you sometime?" He asked. "Yeah," I nodded. "That would be nice" I don't know how but his smile grew and it was such a genuine one that I had to smile too. He took a pen from his pocket and grabbed a napkin. "If I give you my number, you could maybe call me sometime or something?" He asked, unsure, then passed me the napkin. "Yeah, that'd be nice." I smiled, taking the napkin.
