I was having a fight with myself. Do I text him or ring him? What do I do? I just couldn't stop thinking about Garrett as I walked back to my parents. "More bangles?" My mother scowled but I didn't care this time, I was too happy to care about what she had to say. "Who wants to go for a walk along the beach?" My dad asked, breaking the silence. I jumped at it, hoping to see Garrett again. Of course he was gone by the time we got there. It was my luck that would happen. Should I call him or would that make me seem desperate? "What's the hurry?" My dad called out as I looked around, trying to catch at least one last glimpse of Garrett. "Nothing" I said too quickly. "Addie found a boy?" He teased, catching me in a headlock. "Get off me, Dad!" I cried out so he pushed me onto the sand, laughing. Him and my mum just started to walk away. "Yeah, thanks" I mumbled as I saw a figure looming in the corner of my vision. He came towards me, guitar still on his back, and held out a hand to me. "You okay?" He asked as I took his hand. He pulled me to my feet. Brushing myself off, I mumbled, "Yeah" "Don't look it" He said, calmly, then smiled. "Oh well" I mumbled then started to walk away. He followed me. "You sure you want to go with them?" He smiled. I stopped. I didn't want to, he was probably right. "I have to really" I replied as his smile grew. "Want to come with me? I'll have you back wherever before dark" He winked. "Addie." My dad called. "Come on" I looked over to him. He was smiling smugly, he knew he was right. "I don't want her home too late, Son" He called then him and mum started to walk away. I grinned back at Garrett. "So you have my dad's approval, what's up with that?" I joked. "What happened to Stranger Danger?" He teased, taking my hand. I shrugged as he lead me back towards the bar. "I'll introduce you to the guys" He grinned as they came out of the bar area. "Garr, this her?" The guitarist asked, grinning at me. His trousers were still halfway down his arse and that bugged me. "Addie, this is Cameron and Milly" He announced as they both smiled at me. "Hi" I smiled back. Milly stepped forward and hugged me. "I saw Garrett eyeing you when you were at the bar." She said then stepped back. "Lucky girl, he doesn't usually take any notice in girls, you must be special. Now I have to go, ladies. I will see you tonight at the flat." She kissed Garrett and Cameron on the cheek then walked away, a boy trailing behind her. "That was Milly." Cameron rolled his eyes. "And she's right, you are something special." He winked at me, just like he had done to the other girls when he was playing. "Back off, Cam" Garrett said then shoved him lightly in the chest. Cameron stumbled backwards, pretending to be hurt, then laughed. "Alright, alright. Anyway, I have some hot groupies waiting for me in a hotel room. Ciao" He said then strode off. "Don't break too many hearts" Garrett called then turned to me. "We have a whole day, what now?" I asked. "Just walk, I'll take you somewhere" He smiled.
We walked in silence for a while before Garrett dragged me into a shop carved into the cliff. I realised as we got inside that it wasn't a shop, it was the cliff lift. "Hey, Garrett" A guy called from the front of the line. Garrett led me to the front, with a smile on his face. "Hey, Marcus" Garrett said as he bumped fists with him. "Go on in, I'll give you two privacy" He winked at me as Garrett led me inside.
The door shut behind us and the lift started to move slowly as I sat down on one of the many chairs. "How long have you been playing?" I asked as Garrett started strumming as he sat down opposite me. "Since I was ten. So 9 years" He grinned. I nodded. He was 19 so I was only a year younger than him, not even that maybe. "Can you play?" He asked, smiling up at me. "No, I'm not very good with musical instruments" I replied, biting my lip. "We'll see about that, stand up" He smiled, throwing the guitar strap over his head. I did as he said and he place the guitar strap over my head. He then took my hands. "You place your hand here, like this." He whispered, looking down at our hands. "And your other hand goes here and you just strum" He said as he moved our hands. I looked up at him as he strummed. I noticed the concentration on his face, the way he bit his lip slightly and the way he pulled his eyebrows together. I realised I wanted to kiss him right there. I wanted to kiss a stranger so badly that I turned, swinging his guitar behind me like he had done at the bar, and kissed him right there. With my fingers entwined in his dark hair, I tiptoed to look into his green eyes, and he wrapped his arms round me and we kissed. I didn't usually kiss strangers, I wasn't that kind of girl, but I was young and I could have a summer fling, couldn't I?
