Garrett pulled me closer then kissed me again. We were both breathing heavily and smiling like idiots. "I don't normally kiss guys I've just met" I stated. "Me either" He grinned down at me. The door opened then. "Alright, break it up" Someone called in as Garrett and I stared at each other. Then he took hold of my hand again and dragged me to run with him, laughing as we swerved round the people in the lift entrance. We ran out into the summer air and carried on running. "Where are we going?" I laughed. "You'll see" He grinned back at me. We were following the cliff round, being careful not to go near the edge, and then I saw where we were going. It was there all along but I just knew that was where we were going. It was a tree and it was huge. It's branches were thick and all over the place. One was close to the ground. Garrett climbed up into it. "You come here often?" I asked suddenly, taking his guitar in my hands. It kind of shocked me that he hadn't taken it back. "Yeah, quite a bit" He laid back on the branch, looking up at the sky as he rested his head on his hands. "You live round here, right?" I asked. "Right." He grinned. "And you're on holiday here, right?" "Right" I laughed. "Where are you staying?" He asked as I moved my fingers up and down the strings. "In the car." I replied. Garrett started to laugh so I turned to look over the cliff at all the shops, stalls and houses below. I could see part of the beach and some of the people laying on it but other than that my view was mostly the sea. The deep blue sea that connected with the bright blue sky somewhere I couldn't see. I wondered what it would be like to get in the sea and just swim. Maybe it was nice, to get out and see the world for once. Garrett's arms came round me from behind as he buried his head into my neck. "I'm sorry I laughed, I just didn't expect you to say that and look so serious" He said then moved my light brown hair out of the way and kissed my neck. I squirmed slightly under his cold touch. I felt him grin against my neck before he kissed me again. "Why are you staying in a car anyway?" He whispered, looking out at the sea like I was. "They want to be adventurous" I rolled my eyes as Garrett pulled me closer, his hands moving down to hold mine. "Couldn't you just go camping?" He said then took the guitar from me. "If it's okay with you, I need to take this back to the flat, and then I'll take you out for a meal?" He was hesitant about it but smiling. "Yeah, sure, okay" I smiled back slowly. He took my hand and led me away from the tree, towards the road a few feet away from the tree. We crossed the road straight away and went into the building opposite. "You live here?" I asked, stunned as he lead me to the stairs. "Yeah, me and the band live together. It was my place originally but I couldn't keep up with rent so they both decided to move in." He shrugged. "It's not too bad, I guess"
His flat was on the third floor. Flat 6, the last one in the building. He let us into the immaculate living room/kitchen. It was so clean that I had a hard time believing two guys lived there. "Make yourself at home" He grinned, walking down the corridor beside the kitchen and disappearing into a room. There was a drum kit in the corner of the living room, a bass guitar leant against the bass drum. Beside the drum, leaning against the wall, sat a piano that looked like it came straight out of my old high school.
I played the piano for six years, from when I was 5 to 11, until I started high school. I did love playing the piano. I wondered if I remembered anything. I sat down at the piano, pulled up the cover, and ran my fingers softly along the keys. "Let's see if I remember" I whispered then started to play. It was an old piece. Something I had made up when I was 9. It was a soothing piece which had taken a year for me to perfect. I had started on my ninth birthday and finished the day before my tenth. I was a perfectionist sometimes. When the piece came to an end, I heard clapping. I blushed without looking at him, just felt my cheeks burn. "Thought you said you wasn't good with musical instruments?" He commented from somewhere behind me. "Yeah, well I haven't played in a long time" I replied. "Want to play a duet?" I could hear the smile in his voice. "I don't think it'll work" I mumbled. "Of course it will" He laughed then started to strum on the guitar. He sat down beside me on the stool as he strummed a tune I had never heard before. I started to play along, letting the music take control of my fingers. I hadn't played in years, I should have been terrible, but somehow I was able to hold a tune alongside Garrett.
