I was still in the bush when I woke up and my mind was groggy. I couldn't see much but I got to my feet slowly and fell backwards against a fence. "Ugh" I complained rubbing my sore neck. I wondered where Robert was but I gave up caring when I looked down to see the mess of dress I was wearing. I had paid a lot for that dress and two people had seen me wear it. Perfect. I made my way back home. I knew it wasn't far but I was so disorientated that it took me longer than I'd hoped. The same thing was going through my mind as I walked in the darkness barefoot. "A monster is out there" I couldn't name the monster because it made it too real for my liking. Robert was this monster and I was his prey. No lights were on when I got in and the clock on the wall said it was 1am ... Had I really been out cold that long? I left at 7 so I must have been. I creeped up the stairs and into my room. Jessie, as she'd asked, was asleep in my room. It brought me joy to see someone so familiar and I crawled into bed beside her and fell into a deep sleep.
When I awoke it was still dark out. I could hear Jessie whimpering beside me but there was something on my face that was bothering me. I went into the bathroom, keeping the light out, and started to wash my hands and face. My nails had dried blood lodged in them. That was when I turned the light on to find blood round my mouth. I cleaned up quickly then ran into my room. A pool of blood soaked my bed around Jessie as she wept quietly. "Jessie, what happened?" I asked, taking her in my arms. "He hurt me, Blake" Jessie whispered weakly. "She'll be fine, my beauty. It will be nice to have sisters in my family" Robert's voice said from the darkness. "What did you do?" I hissed. "You're both one of me now." He grinned. "Your family await, we have been waiting a while, Princess. Now, shall we go before we burn in the sun?" He held out his hand. Did I have the choice to say I didn't want to go with him? When my sister was so vulnerable and I felt weak and scared. He could've killed me but he didn't, I guess I'd thank him one day for making me one of him, but I didn't see that day coming anytime soon!
