Taxi Cab Respite

It's funny. Driving my cab, there are lots of unknowns: Will I make any money tonight? Will someone puke in my cab? Will someone hand me a hundred dollar tip? Will my next run be my last? Yet somehow when I'm in my cab it's a respite. I feel like the master of my own destiny. In my cab all the turmoil that swirls around me outside stays outside unless I invite it in. Unless I unlock the door. Unless I roll down the window.
