12 December 2012

I ran out of the gaping door and saw the corner of a black truck speeding around the corner. I ran as fast as I could after it but I lost sight of it after it made a sharp turn towards the bay. My heart was pounding and I couldn't get that strangled scream out of my head.

"John" I chocked. But I wasn't going to cry, I was going to stay strong and find poor, little John.

I jogged back to Annie's house and looked in her wardrobe. I found exactly what I was looking for. I stuck the roller skates on and buckled the straps. The skates were a present I gave to Annie last year for her birthday and luckily they were a size to big and now fitted perfectly. I knew she wouldn't wear them but, for no reason in particular, I still got them for her. They were a light shade of purple ( they were out of pink ) and I liked them. So as I slid down the stairs on my bum, or should I say bounced?, I devised a plan.

Crawling out of the door, so as not to scrape the wooden floor, I noticed for the first time that it wasn't raining and the sun was blazing.

"Alice, what are you doing on your hands and knees?"

I spun around and there, standing in the doorway was Annie.

"Annie!!!" I shouted rubbing my eyes.

"That's my name"

"But you- your supposed to be frozen."

I jumped up and tried to run towards her, forgetting about the skates, and fell flat on my bum.

"Oh Alice! What are you like? Are you alright?"

She helped me up and I gave her a BIG hug.

"What's up with you?" She asked returning the hug.

"It's a longggg story." I replied. We were just about to go in to the house when I felt a drop of rain on my nose.

"Oh not again!," I thought.

I looked back at Annie and found her frozen again.

"No! Annie please! I need more time!", I wept "please."

The rain grew heavier and I closed the front door, leaving Annie inside.

The rain made the ground slippery but I managed to get to the dock where I found nothing, absolutely nothing.

I flopped to the ground while the rain soaked me to the bone. I shivered and looked for any trace of a black truck being here but the rain was so strong now that it hurt my head.

I decided to get back to Annie's when I heard a faint rustle from a nearby bush. My heart was racing and I didn't know what to do. The rustling grew louder and louder until it suddenly stopped. My breathing was heavy and I waited for, what seemed like an hour. I saw a flash of blue and then a little, round head stuck out of the bush. My heart kept racing but this time with joy. The monkey climbed out of the bush and hobbled towards me. He looked injured and as her reached me I could see the dried blood on his left leg.

"Oh no! What happened?" I knew he wouldn't answer but it felt good to speak. I picked him up and placed him on my lap. Suddenly I heard a voice inside my head. It was telling me to stay calm and not to panic I was confused. The voice kept speaking. "It's me" it said in a cute, perky voice "look down" it told me and I did. The monkey grinned and waved. "You?" I asked in amazement "it can't be!". "It is," the voice in my head said.
