The storm grew stronger that night. The wind howled and the trees swayed. I was huddled up under a duvet and two blankets listening to the rain on the window. I didn't get much sleep that night. The next morning the weather was the same. As I got out of bed I heard a little tap on the window. At first I thought it was the rain but when I opened the curtains I was greeted with a broad grin on a familiar face. There on my window-sill was the monkey, his smile bigger then ever, and in his hand was a slightly bruised banana. I opened the window and the icy wind blasted me in the face. The monkey handed me the banana and ran of. I stuck my head out the window but he was already gone.
I closed the window as I noticed that I was shivering like crazy. It was saturday so I just stuck a jumper on over my pyjamas, slipped my feet in to my bunny-slippers and crept down the stairs. When I opened the siting-room door I found out there was no reason to be quiet as my family were all ready awake. My dad was drinking coffee while reading the newspaper , my sister ( she's 16) was on Facebook and my mum was lying on the couch under a blanket and sneezing in to a tissue.
I walked over to my mum. " Mum?Are you ok?"
" Don't worry about me I'm fine"
"What happened? Are you sick?"
I heard my dads voice behind me " She was caught in the storm last night get over it."Then he went back to his newspaper. I was appalled. My own dad didn't care if my mum was sick or not. Something was defiantly not right here.
I then went over to my sister.
" Um Becky?"
She didn't reply so I took the headphones of of her head and tried again
"What you doin?"
" What do you think dummy now give me back my headphones."
(Nothing new there) I gave the headphones back and went in to the kitchen. I opened the cupboard doors to find nothing."Dad where's all the medicine and the first aid kit?"
" What first aid kit? We never had a first aid kit and if you don't mind I'm trying to read the newspaper here."
I opened the next cupboard , also empty , I opened every cupboard and every drawer. They were all empty. I walked over to the fridge and wrapped my fingers around the handle. To my utter amazement the fridge was full with food as was the freezer. I put my hand in to the fridge and took out a small plastic carton of milk. I opened the lid but it was empty. I put the carton down and opened the freezer. I took out the supposedly frozen pizza and opened it. The pizza was there but I still wasn't convinced so I picked up a piece ( it was all ready cut. Unusual ) and examined it closely. I then took out an already peeled carrot. I put it to my mouth and tried to bite it. But the problem was that I couldn't. And why? Because it was plastic like the rest of the food in the fridge.
" DAD!!!!!"
