"Oh good morning Alice. Your breakfast is on the table."
I rubbed my eyes and sat down at the table pulling my bowl towards me. Sandra came over to me and scooped some porridge in to my bowl. I poured some honey over it and began to eat. The warmness of it filled my tummy like that. After my breakfast I went to the bathroom and washed my face. I turned around and screamed. There hanging up-side down in front of my face was the monkey.
"Alice are you alright?" I heard Sandra call from down stairs.
"Yeh I'm fine I just...um slipped." I called back to her. I heard footsteps coming up the stairs and I panicked. I couldn't move the monkey or tell him to get in to the bath so at the last second I ran out of the bathroom and closed the door gently behind me. When Sandra got to the top of the stairs I pretended to get of the floor. "Oh Alice are you alright?"
"Oh well my thigh and ankle do hurt." I answered deciding to use this slip thing to mask my limping.
"Ok show me where it hurts." I pointed at the back of my thigh and then my whole ankle.
"Ok you stay here and I'll get the first aid kit. Sit down on the ground if you like yes sit down don't put pressure on the ankle. I'll get you a chair while I'm down getting the first aid kit." She then ran of downstairs muttering "Now where did I put that first aid kit?"
When she reached the bottom step I opened the bathroom door and peered inside. The monkey was still there. He was standing on the edge of the sink holding an open tube of toothpaste. I froze and he looked at me. I closed the door quickly and waited for two minutes. When no sound issued from the bathroom I looked in again. The tube was on the floor and the monkey was in the bath. I picked up the toothpaste tube to find it empty. I then looked at the monkey's mouth which was outlined with white toothpaste. It didn't take a brainiac to figure out what had happened. I put the toilet seat down and sat on it. The monkey scratched his head and then jumped up as if he had just remembered something. He ran to the door and slipped a piece of paper out of the key hole then he ran over and gave it to me. I un-folded it and read three words: you are different. I looked at the back but there was nothing there. I was once again puzzled. You are different well that's a very nice thing to say.
"Alice I got you an ice-pack. Oh what are you doing in the bathroom?" Sandra asked me.
I looked up and the monkey was gone.
"Oh I wanted to sit down like you said." I answered her. She handed me the ice-pack and I put it against my thigh.
"Oh great." I thought "Know I have two things to mule over."
