Do we choose a hedonistic life over one of misery
If we know the pleasure gained is through another's pain
Does it please to be in ease if others we tease
With the strain of I'll gotten gains
We surmise the prize through others eyes
And take pleasure in their jealous gaze
Is only our worth through others girth
Can value not be placed by birth
Our irresolute comparison be tamed
Why wane in pain strive to sustain
An image through another's window pane
When value on ourselves could be placed ourselves
And the judgement of others will refrain
