Flo sat in silence. She didn't know whether to pull her hand a away or not. "I'm sure the Prince Of Terran is very lucky to have you for a bride..." his words sort of trailed off.
The next day she couldn't find Felix anywhere. She searched the whole palace, the gardens and the stables. Soon she gave up and went for a walk down to the lake in the meadow. She sat down on a large rock, dipping her feet into the cold stream. She lay back and looked up at the sky. "Where is he?" she thought, she felt like actually screaming it out loud for the whole world to hear. Her buzzing thoughts were interrupted by the sound of loud splashing footsteps in the lake. To her left about ten footsteps away stood a dripping wet Felix with a fish in his mouth. "Felix! What on earth are you doing? Why do you have a fish in your mouth?" she had more questions than yesterday. Felix stared at her puzzled and shocked. He dropped the fish into his hand, it made a sploshing sound. "Princess!" he said while bowing. She stood up and walked over to him "Stop calling me Princess." "Sorry, Flo." "Why did you have that fish in your mouth? And why have you been gone all day?" "Umm... Eh..." he gave Flo an embarrassed smile. "Never mind then... I was looking for you everywhere." she paused "I was worried..." Felix blushed. "You shouldn't worry about me Prin- I mean Flo. I'm just a stable-hand." he rubbed the back of his neck. "But you're also my best friend!" she replied with a grin. Her infectious smile got to Felix and he smiled back. "Lets get back to the palace, hmm?" he said. They walked side by side towards the city. It was beginning to get dark so they rushed, Flo was slightly ahead of him but he kept up. When they got back her mother fussed again but she didn't mind. Flo felt quite tired and went to bed early. When she woke up she wished could stay in bed. Her mother had decided the ball would be tonight and got her up early to try on dresses and take a ballroom dance lesson. The tailor awaited her in the parlour. He had a heap of fabric that Flo wrinkled her nose at. The first dress was bright yellow with pink bows and ruffles at the bottom. Just looking at it made her want to throw up. Of course her mother absolutely loved it but Flo demanded to see the next dress. Her next disappointment was a hideous, dull green lacy dress. The ruffles at the bottom annoyed her and she ripped them off, completely destroying the hem in the process and the whole dress fell apart. She just stood there smiling at her mother hoping she was invisible or this was all a dream but it wasn't. The Queen just shook her head and gestured at the tailor to bring a new dress out. As soon as she saw it, Flo's face lit up. The tailor was showing off a dark purple ball gown with no ruffles or lace! She didn't usually like dresses but this one was an exception. It had a bow at the back which created a sort train tumbling to the ground. In a flash, Flo whisked it from the tailors hand and tried it on. She danced around the room until her mother said "Now it's time for your dance lesson. You can keep the gown on if you like, it's good practice." and she ushered Flo into the ballroom.
