There's a darker side to fairytales, Of that you must be aware, Each story written painfully, In the character's despair,
You see, there is a hint of truth, Behind these simple tales, Taken from a distant past, The winds of time, they wail,
In another reality, Another passing life, The characters, they reside, Dealing with their strife,
Sleeping beauty, oh so fair, Stabbed by a spinning wheel, Never again to wake up, To love, to live, to feel,
Cinderella, she was a maid, For three evil women, true, But there was no Prince's ball, How Ella cried, so blue,
Hansel and Gretel, young, Abandoned and lost, They found a sweet house, But at what cost?
Rapunzel, kept against her will, With no long hair to climb, She waited there, all alone, For a very long time,
Snow White, alas, she died, Skin as white as snow, Because she ate the poisoned fruit, To heaven, she did go,
Little red, went out for her gran, Wearing a bright red hood, But she wandered off the path, And got trapped in the woods,
So beware just what you hear, Because it may be true, And like in all these fairy tales, You may be trapped too.
