A bird squawked at the edge of the forest, followed by the swish of an arrow and a thud. It made me shudder. Life was brutal and it took no prisoners, not even a defenceless bird. Phillip stared at me in shock but Isadora smiled a wicked, devilish smile. She stood up eagerly and started pacing. Sometimes I wondered whether Isadora was secretly an assassin. Actually, thinking about it, she most probably was. She turned to face me and said in a vicious tone;
"When?"
Her cornflower eyes sparkled mischievously, and Phillip shook his head dramatically, eyes closed. I laughed and spoke with relish, savouring every word,
"Tonight. We do it tonight."
Phillip stood up, hands in the air and said,
" Right then. I'll leave you two little murderers to it. Tell me when you have finished formulating your evil scheme."
He laughed an evil laugh sarcastically then slipped and fell as he turned to leave. Isadora and I fell about laughing. For a moment, nothing mattered. I didn't care that I was about to kill someone. I didn't care that I was a seeress. I didn't care that I had personally stopped my friend from transforming. I didn't care about anything, I was with my best friend and the love of my life. Everything was perfect.
