I watched as the lean, muscular wolf sprinted in the direction of the howl and sighed. Up on the hill, figures were moving around the tent that I had fell from. I guessed they were looking for me, so I got up and started to walk over. "Ouch!" I exclaimed. My ankle hurt a lot more than I remembered. My foot throbbing, I clambered up the hill, only to come face to face with a very angry looking Isadora.

"Um... Hi?" I said, trying to start a conversation that wouldn't end in a fight.

She glared at me. "You left the tent!!! Left it!!"

"Well, actually I kind of fell out of..." I started to reply.

"I don't care!! You left the tent!" She shouted, beginning to pace around. "My mum is going to kill me. Literally kill me! You stupid little... Foreigner! Doesn't anyone teach kids anything these days?"

I tried to reply without completely losing my head. I mean, we were the same age!

" I was taught at school, actually. In fact, I was the best student." I said, swelling with pride.

" Okay, little miss smarty pants, I still need to explain to my mum why..." She broke off in mid-sentence and her face turned into a picture of dread.

"Explain what to me, Isadora." said a slim woman with golden curls and a jewelled longsword at her side. Isadora gulped.

"Explain how nice our visitor was being, mother." She replied, trying desperately to make it seem like she was telling the truth.

"Don't lie to me!" Isadora's mother shouted, her eyes filled with anger.

"Okay, okay. Um... Well, she may have left the tent a teensy bit. Maybe."

Isadora's mother smiled sweetly, grabbed Isadora arm and walked her away, down the hill. I glanced at the others. They looked really worried. Without thinking twice, I sprinted down the hill after Isadora.
