I watch the giraffe float across the sky, and sigh gently. My pet potato yips at my heels excitedly, eyes wide in happiness. The loud whistle of a tree startles it, and it runs inside the house, frightened.
I have always loved this balcony. My mother would bring me here as a child, pointing out the wonders of this world.
"And look, there! The great jelly houses of kangaroo!", she would say, and I would laugh, as she pointed to 3 large buildings in the distance.
I miss her. She taught me things I didn't know were possible, and helped me when times were tough. Now I come out here every evening to watch the rabbit set and the stars come out. It is so
beautiful. I love the way they twinkle and seem to dance in the purple sky. My mother used to say they were goddesses, waiting for their turn to rule. A single tear slides down my cheek, onto the floor below.
