She stands alone before a bridge

Knowing she must cross here

She has no one to help her over

And she is overcome with fear

She is a tiny baby and her mother is not by her side

She puts a foot tentatively across

Tears well up in her eyes

She has taken the first step of life

And has felt her very first pain

But she still wants to carry on

And takes a step again

And this is how it carries on

As she grows into a child

She feels less of the pain

She becomes sweet and loving and mild

She grows into a teenager

And gets confused a lot of times

Sometimes her bridge is swaying

But she never looks behind

When she is an adult

She stops being so naïve

And when her mother dies

Her bridge is clouded with grief

But she never stops walking

Across her bridge of fate

Even though she's alone

She knows she can't be late

She doesn't know where she's going

Above or down below

But there's one thing she knows for certain;

She doesn't want to be fast or slow

She goes there at an even pace

And reaches ninety-two

Her lover's gone already

And she doesn't know what to do

There's a fog in front of her face

And she knows this is the end

But will she go to heaven?

Or to he'll will she descend?

But she knows she has to go

And she takes her final breath

She gathers up the strength

And takes her one last step…
