Death Of A Library

3 decades you've stood,
Proud, strong and tall.
A place of knowledge,
For students, one and all.

A true Queen like you,
Deserved a graceful end.
Not the heartless monster,
To which you now must bend.

The claw cuts your roof,
Twists and rips your wall.
Your innards lie as rubble,
Strewn and visible to all.

Your memory though will stay,
And always will live on.
Long after your body,
Is broken, cleared and gone.

A beautifully written poem inspired by such a waste! It is depriving many of the opportunity to read books, I have magical memories of going to the library on a friday to choose a few books for the weekend! It's so regrettable that this is deemed unimportant by our government!

@sophiethefairie they built a new one. It looks like a zebra

Haha great here in Kent they are closing them down!

The design of the new library is actually supposed to represent microcline feldspar with twinning in cross section. As feldspar is a key component of granite, which aberdeen is known for, and the library is located next to the geology building I actually quite like the design :) I don't like it as a library though. Its very show off, very noisy and just not really suitable for what it was supposedly designed for! QML wasn't perfect either but a lot of people have a lot of memories from it though so its sad that its just being unceremoniously torn down
