Source of heat and light and mirth, One and all should know your worth.
The memories made, the comfort felt, When down beside you we have knelt.
The cold dark nights you filled with cheer The way you brought the family near.
Alas though, there are now those Who've never had a fire-side doze.
They've never watched your crackling light, Whilst holding loved ones near and tight.
Neither have they stoked your glow Then joined the feast where wine doth flow.
All these joys they've been denied, For in few places do you now abide.
Oh fireplace your heyday's past For a new arrangement has been cast.
The fault lies in a modern traitor, Yes of course... the radiator!
