"No!" I screamed. My friend laying there like that. All crumpled and... broken. "What happened?!" I yell at her boyfriend, who meant nothing to me now. "It was dark and the truck came out of nowhere..." He was bleeding and I had to get him to a hospital, but I couldn't leave her. Not my friend that I'd known forever. Not the friend I saw there in the truck. I had bruises, but most of the other truck had hit the passenger side. It had spared me and taken her instead. I looked to where she was now laying in a heap. I broke into tears. Crying for me, for her, for the fact that she's never coming back. I had checked for a pulse, a heartbeat, anything, but it wasn't there. The ambulance would be here soon, just calm down. He was staring at the steering wheel, not blinking. I ran over to him. "This is all your fault! You're the one who invited us to that stupid party! Don't you have anything to say for yourself?!" He kept staring. "Hello?!" I waved my hand in front of his face. He didn't move. I shook him. Completely unresponsive. I felt for a pulse. Nothing. I backed away. Two dead... They were after me, I knew it. I couldn't stay. Even though I wanted to, if I did, they would find me. I looked at my friend. I took the dead flower out of my hair and set it next to her. "I'm sorry," I whispered. But I would try to live. I would try to survive.
