unused pillows

she lays on the bed, curled tight like a hedgehog, a knee touching her nose, the other slightly lower. her head is off the pillow by some way, the covers pulled around her curved form. her face, almost hidden by soft blue hair, is still, luminescent in the candles glow. he glides his hands over her mountains and valleys, the touch too soft to not show endearment. he traces letters and words of forgotten languages over her rounded shoulders, noting the escape plans hidden in the freckles. he breathes that he loves her with every exhale. she replies, "I want to escape, I hate this." he does not enquire as to this. rising on his elbow he blows out the candle, the extinguished light travelling fast around the room, a lasting imprint of her tearful eyes. he wraps around her form, taking the place of covers.
"we can escape, for now, into dreams. you can travel to Scandinavia, middle earth, hogwarts, the moon, land upon the sun. and I will be here when you get home, with tea and toffee waffles. because no one as accidentally and undeniably beautiful as you, should ever be as sad."
