Crouched - in a hole, lone; death bullets circle his home. Child, stranger to calm.

Fear - a common foe, That visits with every shot. Trapped, nowhere to go.

Panic - never far, Unease is all that greets him. Nothing left but scars.

Home; this snow filled trench Olfactory overload Deaths coppery stench

Battle - on the edge, Ready to step forth today leap over the ledge.

Dreams- are all he has, Where innocence is not dead, and blood is not shed.

Childhood spent in fear, Love, fun, happiness - unknown, No family; alone.

Desensitised; numb, A soldier, out of his depth Who has not yet wept.

Suppressed; out of sight, His dreams and hopes Will they ever see the light?

Innocence - lost going over the top Another child dead When will it stop?
