Still plodding wearily through the inconsistencies and contradictions of the old testament... I must be getting near the end though, because there's a lot of recapping going on.. Well when I say recapping I mean retelling stories using similar but not the same facts yet still purporting to be relevant to god's will.. plus some really bad poems and bloody awful songs (they don't even rhyme !)
Anyway, suffice to say its dull.. Duller that a leper's wash basin on a Sunday..
Although I'm a bit reluctant to continue with this post due to:
Proverbs 9:8 'Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you; Reprove a wise man and he will love you'
Clear? Good, it's full of useful bits like that.. Much the same as you see here on Opuss on an hourly basis, in fact I'm surprised there isn't a chapter in the bible called 'that moment when..'
But wait:
'grey hair is a crown of glory, it is gained in a righteous life'
I'm feeling pretty righteous right now, so let's carry on..
But now its getting a bit racey.. Isaiah and books around this part seem to setting us up for the sequel. It's all prophecy mixed in with past and present for good measure and to show authenticity..
Have to admit it's a little depressing considering the whole destruction of the earth thing.. God dashing infants to pieces and generally murdering the population..
But don't worry, Nessie is also going to get it too;
Isaiah 27:1
In that day the lord with his hard and great and strong sword will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, Leviathan the twisting serpent, and he will slay the dragon that is in the sea'
Now you could say this isn't literal, only the context and passage it's in suggests otherwise.. Also there's plenty that think the world was created in 7 twenty four hour periods before time was defined, so why not throw in a unicorn or dragon here and there (just don't mention the bloody dinosaurs)
