I'm eating my toast in bed reading the feeds as is my thing..
However, today I will get up, finish packing.. Then head off with the family for two weeks with my mum stepdad and brother in Majorca! :)
Canny wait, been just over a year since mrs started her recovery and everything is going great :)
Mind you, I go back to work as soon as we get back!!!!!
Anyway, where was I.. Aye, all this chatter about religion has stirred an interest within me. Hopefully someone will help!!
Heres my wish list for a suitable 'religion':
Must not be a jealous god - ie no punishing folk just because they don't worship him.
Two consenting adults loving each other is not a sin - I can't be doing with any religion that decrees homosexuality a sin
Nothing really required to become a member - I might not mind the odd bit of chanting and it may snowball.. But I'm not dressing up and I'm quite busy at the moment.
A central belief in compassion and love that overrides all other character flaws that may present itself upon closer inspection.
Quite open minded philosophy, that takes on board developments in whatever field may be relevant. And no flat earth societies please.
I don't have to preach to be in the good books. Don't like that, scared (scarred?) me as a kid and I think it's a personal decision, not one that can be preached.
A sense of connection with the god would be nice too. The bosses so rarely get involved these days!
Oh.. This might rule out a few.. I don't want to be part of any that allowed atrocities to be carried out in their name.
This is a genuine plea, will give me something to read into if anyone can come up with anything.
I'm agnostic at the moment and while it meets a few of these points, I feel something is missing.
