That satan chap is a clever one... With a few crafty phrases he managed to get god to allow him to torture poor Job.
The evil satan convinced god that the mortal Job (who in god's eyes was one of the finest men on earth) was only so god fearing because god had given him an easy life.
So satan tricked god into allowing him to destroy Job's life, in order for god to prove how much Job loved him.
Thereafter follows what I have found to be the most interesting read so far in the bible. Basically a well thought out debate on why god can punish the godly yet seemingly spare the ungodly.
Many good points on both sides tbh, but it boiled down to god also doing good, and able to do worse and we are all with sin and unworthy to question his deeds..
Then the lord comes and is a little annoyed at poor Job for daring to question god's plan, after all who else could create all things and then be suitable to argue with him.
So after a good talking down, Job says sorry for blaming god and god restores all Job's former good times with interest.
Meanwhile, satan looks for more ways to trick man and god...
