(D)ay and night he thought of ways to confess his endless love
(I)n the mirror on his knee he envisioned her response
(A) thousand times he said the words until they came out right
(M)aking sure that he conveyed the depth of his desire
(O)ver drinks and dinner it was an agonizing wait
(N)ervously he tried to hide his trembling hands and legs
(D)essert arrived-a piece of cake with a sparkling surprise
(S)lowly falling to his knee he slipped the diamond on her hand
