There is a pain she feels inside When people say she's strong Imagine if they knew the truth... They couldn't be more wrong

She may walk with quiet confidence And some may say she's vain But really it's a veil she wears To hide her inner pain

Behind the mask she's wearing Behind her smiling face Behind the curtain of her act She feels like a disgrace

She hates the way she looks She even hates her voice She wishes someone knew the truth But feels she has no choice

When she built these walls inside her Their purpose seemed so clear She never thought they'd be so strong That no one could get near

It's like she's trapped inside a prison With a massive wall of stone Behind the strongest of defenses She's trembling and alone

Now she's forced to play this role That's pushed her to the brink A script that's written with a pen That uses pain as ink
