Does anybody on here read the Radio Times? Well, the "singer" Plan B had an article a couple of weeks back telling people not to call him a chav, because it's an acronym for Council House And Violence. I was fairly sceptical at first, so I though I'd consult my trusty Chambers English Dictionary. So today I finally got round to doing it, and apparently it actually originates from the Romany word chavi meaning child. So, basically, Mr B (or so I shall call him) is talking out of his arse on this occasion.
P.S. don't call him chavi either because he'll think it stands for Criminal Hedgehogs And Violent Insects. Now that's an insult!
