Tonight on BBC 2 the powers that be decided to keep on the tennis for a bit longer and postpone The Hollow Crown (Shakespeare's Henry IV-Part 1). Now those of you who read my Opusses religiously (I know you're out there...somewhere.) will know that I was a very big fan of last week's episode which was Richard II. So you would be correct in assuming that I would be very excited to see this second episode. However, this was the first time a British player has won the doubles for a very long time, and I do like the tennis so I wouldn't begrudge them their moment of glory.
Well, after the fifteen minutes (the 'bit' longer) had passed, they said the Shakespeare would not be on until half past (it was quarter past at this point). Now I am a patient person, and I was enjoying the tennis at this point so I had little objection. The next message was that they would not be showing the Hollow Crown this evening. Now, I was upset, I won't deny it, but this was tennis history in the making, so I didn't complain much.
Then I found out they did start the Hollow Crown after all at 10 instead without telling me! (I was on a different channel by this point.) Now I was furious. BBC, if you're going to cancel it, cancel it, and if you're not, don't. But don't tell us it's cancelled and then sneakily stick it on in half an hour's time! This is outrageous!!! As a consequence, I missed half an hour and so will have to catch the start on iPlayer, which is unreliable at the best of times! Ruined my evening, that has. :'(
