6 December 2012
The sea clapped, persistently lapped
At two smooth and lifeless feet
On the shore, she always lay
In an eternal sleep
Garlands hung around her head
Flowers adorning her deathbed
Winters glacial, summers grim
Not a word was uttered in the haunting din
Then suddenly, one awful night
Infernos blazed, red alight
Raging across the stricken isle
Crackling, eating, burning vile
The heavens cried with all their might
In a vain attempt to extinguish
But, after that disastrous night
The landscape was hard to distinguish
The sea composed a lullaby,
A final eerie lull
For the ghostly pleasure
The creepy leisure
Of the fair Sea Maiden's skull.
